Dr.
Freysinger introduced clinical intraoperative 3D-navigation at the Univ. ENT
Clinic in 1994.
His
main focus is the creation of surgical technology that ideally fits the
surgeons´ needs.
He founded
an interdisciplinary laboratory at the clinic to develop streamlined
intraoperative 3D-navigation systems.
In
order to train qualified personnel Dr. Freysinger founded and runs a PhD
program that is focused on Image-Guided
Diagnosis and Therapy at the Innsbruck
Medical University.
Dr.
Freysinger has graduated in physics and is currently associate professor of
medical physics at Innsbruck Medical University, co-opted professor of medical
informatics at the UMIT, Hall in Tirol, and
additionally adjunct professor of mathematics and computer science at the Leopold Franzens Universität
Innsbruck.
Dr.
Freysinger serves on the editorial board of the International Journal of
Computer-Assisted Radiology and Surgery and is independent reviewer for a
number of peer-review conferences and journals in the field. Moreover, he provides
reviews for the Swiss National Science Foundation, for The Italian Ministry of
Science and Technology, Austrian Science Funding Agencies, the AO Foundation,
and the European Commission.
